December 2002
December has started as November finished off: busy as usual! We
exhibited at the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce's "Exploiting Technology"
exhibition at Norwich City Football Club's ground to showcase our work,
provide impartial advice on e-business as a UK Online for Business
partner and to provide information about Sophos anti-virus solutions.
October 2002
Lies, all lies! (25 October 2002)
It has come to our attention that some web sites being operated by
Sitefinders Net Ltd. including muslim.co.uk, architect.co.uk,
stationery.co.uk
and accountant.co.uk have hyperlinks to our web site claiming
that ours is in some way a "Related Site".
For the avoidance of doubt, we have never had any relationship,
business or otherwise, with Sitefinders Net Ltd. and we are concerned
that they may be seeking to trade off our goodwill and reputation in the
marketplace. We have obviously had our legal team contact them to remove
the offending link, which we can only presume should have been to
webdesigners.co.uk (not hyphenated) which is a domain name currently
registered to them.
Sophos Anti-Virus Software
A service we've been able to provide for our Clients for a while now is Sophos anti-virus software. We're
firm believers in this product and have been using it ourselves since
we started up (other companies in the group had used Dr. Solomon's
before they were bought out by McAfee and we don't touch Norton
products...).
Sophos accepted us a reseller a while back but we've not really
publicised the
product or the fact that we sell licences. We can't publish prices as they vary depending upon the type
of establishment, the number of licences and the term of the licences
but you can e-mail us and ask us for a quote. We pass on some of our
discounts to make it an attractive proposition for you to be able to
use what we reckon is the best anti-virus software out there.
We've also added a virus information feed to this page of our site
so you can keep up to date with what threats are out there now. In
future, this virus information feed will remain over there on the left of this
page.
New Client Site Live
We have also taken a new web site live for the
Christian Engineers in Development which features project
photographs and online third-party fundraising.
New Client Site Live (Take 2)
If you're looking for some top-quality and rare niche furniture,
look no further than the web site we've taken live for
Nick Wright and Swati Shah
(Metropolitan Art). Unfortunately, they've decided that for its
first incarnation, the site won't feature the 360° virtual tour but
they're happy for us to
showcase it here.
August 2002
Annual Shutdown
As with last year, we're having our annual shutdown for a week this
month: technical support for existing clients will still be available
(Clients will already have e-mail about this with direct-dial numbers), but no
front-office, sales or design
staff will be available.
Busy, busy, busy
On a related subject, we're happy to report that our current
Clients are still keeping us very busy; the downside of this being
that we'll be unable to start any new Client sites until October this
year so we're not quoting for new work - we wouldn't want to
disappoint you!
July 2002
As noted in the February 2002 bit, we've been working on a
quick-loading but attractive web site for
Walker Charlesworth & Foster which we've now taken live.
June 2002
Another hectic couple of months, punctuated by having to deal with
yet more copyright violations: to the best of our knowledge, this site
has either been copied in part or completely more than 30 times.
Indeed, instances of this have been covered on web sites like
Pirated Sites.
Most of the copiers are so dense they fail to realise that:
- our code and/or graphics are traceable; and
- we take such matters very seriously and will take legal action
against them.
One of the mailing lists we are on
came up with a suggestion that might work to make a negative a positive:
a rogues' gallery, similar to our Client List
page, where we could showcase the copy and the original. This would show
potential Clients that our work is well thought of <preen> and also
discourage potential Clients from using the thieves.
Talking of Clients, we've taken live a new web site for
Ian Leeming QC, a barrister
with chambers in London and Manchester.
April 2002
What the heck happened to March, then?
A hectic time is being had by one and all since February: we're
working on the Walker Charlesworth Online site, an online conveyancing
system for Barrett & Co. and
we've put together a site for Client J J McGinley and their customer
London & Quadrant Housing Trust. The latter is a
Residents' Liaison
web site for their housing refurbishment projects with contact details
and general project information available online for the residents.
We've also been carrying out the routine site updates for other
Clients' sites.
Slightly more disappointing is the online 360° virtual panorama
we've done for a Client: the site's not yet ready to launch (awaiting
final copy) so we're still unable to show it to you ... yet! Not long
now though.
February 2002
New developments so far this month include a new Client: Solicitors
Walker Charlesworth & Foster in Leeds. A modular design is required
and we'll be establishing the design and scope with them this month.
Ongoing design requirements from our existing Client base has also
meant that we've effectively imposed a moratorium on new Clients for
the rest of this month at least: part of our philosophy is to ensure
that we continue to place emphasis on service for existing Clients
rather than concentrating on attracting new ones.
January 2002
As we mentioned last month, a new Client,
J J McGinley Limited,
whose designers and hosts had gone bust now has their web site up and
running: see
http://www.mcginley.co.uk for the results. We've also rescued a
couple of their domain names for them.
