Domain Name Registration
Your identity on the world wide web is important: often, people
will want to find out information about your products or services
and will guess your domain name - some companies have, after all,
made a business out of speculatively registering domain names - so
it's important that you consider registering a domain name that is
reasonably intuitive.
After all, which of the following is more intuitive for a
company called Morris Associates:
http://www.morris-associates.co.uk
or
http://s106352978.websitehome.co.uk/homepages/Morris_Associates?
For that matter, which one will be easier to remember or to put
on a business card?
Another benefit of registering your own domain is that if you
decide to change your Internet Service Provider, you don't need to
advise all your contacts of the new e-mail and web site addresses
and change them on all your stationery - they remain the same.
We can register your domain name with a .co.uk, .ltd.uk,
.plc.uk, .org.uk for £25 and a .com, .net, .org, .info or .biz suffix for £35, which includes
registration, set up and the first two years' fees (.com, etc.
renewals are £35).
Check if your preferred domain name is available (.uk domains):
Fill this in to check a .com, .net, .org or .info
domain name:
Enter up to 67 characters: A-Z, 0-9, or dashes.
Our advice would be to register your preferred domain name with
us now even if you're not yet ready to have a web site: generally,
it's a case of first come, first served.
Be careful about the domain name you choose: there have been a
few "mistakes" like Power Genitalia instead of
Powergen Italia and Expert Sex Change instead of
Experts Exchange.
Virtual Domains
If you'd prefer not to 'take the plunge' on a domain name yet,
we can still set you up with a virtual domain of
http://<yourname>.wduk.net for your web site's URL for £10
per annum.
